Ellen von Unwerth captures the Ginny Litscher ‘Tribe’.
What inspired you to create the “TRIBE” collection?
GINNY LITSCHER: “TRIBE was born from a very personal place. I wanted to explore what connects us beyond fashion—identity, belonging, intuition. In my paintings, I often work with raw, instinctive strokes, and for this collection I translated that energy into designs that feel almost spiritual. ‘TRIBE’ is not about a specific culture, but about the universal human need to belong to something larger than ourselves. The runway was meant to be a celebration of individuality coming together in unity.”
How do your paintings turn into the textiles and clothes we see on the runway?
GINNY LITSCHER: “For me, painting is always the beginning. I paint on large canvases in my studio—the piece that inspired this collection took more than three months to complete. Once the painting is finished, I digitalize the artwork and transform it into prints. I see each piece as a wearable canvas. The fabrics are developed very intentionally so that the emotional quality of the original painting stays alive on the body.”
PERFECT: How did you approach drawing from tribal cultures in a respectful, modern way?
GINNY LITSCHER: “It was essential for me not to imitate or appropriate any specific tribal culture. My approach was abstract, symbolic, and rooted in my own artistic language. I wanted to evoke a sense of primal connection without referencing any particular tradition. My work is about universality, not borrowing. The silhouettes, colors and prints express an inner instinct—something timeless that belongs to all of us. Respect means creating from authenticity rather than mimicking what is sacred to someone else.”
What was the mood like backstage, especially with Ellen von Unwerth shooting?
GINNY LITSCHER: “Backstage felt electric. Ellen von Unwerth brought this incredible, playful energy. She captures joy, confidence and power in such a natural way. The models were glowing because she makes people feel seen. With Ellen behind the lens, the whole team felt like part of the same tribe. It was a moment of pure creative synergy, and you can feel that in every shot.”
What do you hope people take away from ‘TRIBE,’ and what’s next for you?
GINNY LITSCHER: “I hope people feel a sense of strength and connection when they see TRIBE. It’s a reminder that individuality is powerful, but community is transformative. Fashion can unite us without erasing who we are.
Next, I’m deepening this dialogue—continuing to merge art and fashion in a way that feels meaningful. My upcoming work will explore identity even further, with new textile developments and collaborations that expand the artistic universe of the brand.”
