Perfect on the Ground at 080 Barcelona Fashion Week’s 37th Edition.

Backstage at AAA Studio.

As a 080 Barcelona Fashion Week first timer I didn’t know what to expect… With this season marking the 37th edition, and a new format a new location 1 venue 26 shows.

What sets 080 Barcelona Fashion Week apart from the rest of the international fashion weeks is its mission to support and nurture emerging designers pushing innovation and sustainability. The shows were both that of established and emerging designers. Brands such as Custo Barcelona, Adolfo Dominguez, Dominnico, AAA Studio’s and more showing.

We caught up with some of the designers to find delve deeper into their collections and find out what it’s like showing during 080 Barcelona Fashion Week.

Reparto:

A combination of a sleepy wonderland and the energy of New York, REPARTO Studio’s latest collection, ‘Backlot’, explores the fictional spaces surrounding cinema. The collection delves into our dreams, examining them through the creative partnership of Margil Peña and Ana Viglone, transforming these ideas into clothes that tell a story on the catwalk. Founded in Madrid in 2019, the brand works to ‘hold a mirror up’ to the fashion industry and push us to question what we are doing.

Nazzal Studio:

A brand that I was told essentially “came about by accident”, Palestinian-based designer Sylwia Nazzal of Nazzal Studios aims to build a community centred around a shared belief in humanity. For their latest collection, created in collaboration with artist Jad Maq, the work explores survival instincts and how they are embedded in our lives.the brand is definitely making moves to shift the current narrative in fashion and pushing boundaries that need to be spoken about. Real human issues.
